At the Technical University of Munich? \u2013 8<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cReporter\u2019s Commentary: No one monitors professors\u2019 activities, whether they are carrying out research or twiddling their thumbs. In this respect they are completely free and independent. And internationally \u2013 professors at German universities are bringing up the rear. The great age of research in this country is behind us. Between 1900 and 1930 fourteen Nobel laureates in chemistry alone came from Germany. And today? There are four. And these four live and do their research in the United States. Und wird international &#8211; zum Schlusslicht. Die Glanzzeit der Forschung liegt hinter uns. Zwischen 1900 und 1930 kamen allein 14 Nobelpreistr\u00e4ger f\u00fcr Chemie aus Deutschland. Und heute? Gibt es vier. Die aber leben und forschen in den USA.
