German version below.)<\/p>\n<p>17 OCTOBER 2006, TUESDAY, DUSSELDORF, GERMANY<\/p>\n<p>Praise Falling on Deaf Ears (Of Course Nothing Here Could Possibly Apply to the Technical University of Munich) \u2013 11<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cPsychologist Susanne Schmid says that at home she would have only two alternatives: \u2018Either a vague hope of tenure or else practically no possibility of teaching at a German university beyond the age of forty.\u2019 Like Maly and Schmid, most of those at the conference noted the lack of the kind of tenure track that scientists at US universities have.
