“(ARD Journalist:) Germany’s conservative Christian Democrats normally support whatever the authorities do in the country. However, the only person now concerned about the three police officers is, of all people, a Christian Democrat, whose party governs the state in a ruling coaling. He is still outraged by the situation.
Herbert Hartung, Christian Democrat Representative in the Saxony-Anhalt state legislature says: ‘This is the way I see it – the little guys, these officers, are supposed to be sacrificed, while the others go free. Things can’t be that way; things just can’t be that way.”

„Und so kümmert sich am Ende nur noch einer um sie: Ausgerechnet ein CDU-Mann, Mitglied der Großen Koalition in Magdeburg. Er ist nur noch empört.
O-Ton Herbert Hartung, CDU-Landtagsabegordneter: „Ich sehe es so, dass jetzt die Kleinen geschlachtet werden sollen, und die anderen lässt man laufen. Und dass kann nicht sein, das kann einfach nicht sein.“
