Bureaucratic Theater of the Absurd – Even in Munich or at the Technical University of Munich? – 2
“Excerpt from a speech in the Bundestag by Federal Education Minister Annette Schavan, Christian Democrat, on December 1, 2005: ‘There are too few top scientists, both inside and outside Germany, who feel they have a future in this country.’
“JOURNALIST: Claudia Wassmann is one of these ‘few top scientists’. She has two doctorates, an M.D. and a PhD. in history. She lived in the United States for seven years and worked there as a scientist. She has also had an impressive academic career: she taught at the University of Chicago and is credited with a long list of publications, in addition to being a licensed physician. She worked at the National Institutes of Health in Maryland, and she speaks four languages. In short, she certainly is one of the ‘top scientists’ referred to by the Minister of Education. Moreover, for family reasons she has returned to Germany to look for a new position’.”
