Praise Falling on Deaf Ears (Of Course Nothing Here Could Possibly Apply to the Technical University of Munich) – 16
“So both sides – the young academics and the members of the German university establishment – talk past one another most of the time. In the end, the impression remains that the German politicians and university representatives failed to reach the goal of convincing large numbers of young Germans in America to return home. It is true that according to one quick poll more than three-quarters of the young people say they would rather, in principle at least, return to Germany. But what is true for Claudia Peus is probably in the end true for most of the others as well. She wants to apply for positions in the United States – ‘in order to remain here in America’.”
