The Technical University of Munich* – “Research Prize for Plagiarized Work” – 2

Another sense of outrage connected to the Nazi period in Germany has become widespread with the appearance of a report on Jewish doctors specializing in urology during the Nazi regime. The outrage, though, has nothing to do with Hitler. Some time ago, a two-volume work “Urologists under National Socialism” was awarded a research prize by then Health Minister Daniel Bahr, the German Medical Association and the Regional Associations of SHI-Accredited Physicians. The Jury emphasized “the mixture of biographical details with summaries of exemplary lives.”

Ein Beitrag über jüdische Urologen in der Nazizeit sorgt für Empörung, doch die hat nichts mit Hitler zu tun. Vor einigen Wochen wurde der Doppelband Urologen im Nationalsozialismus von Gesundheitsminister Daniel Bahr, der Bundesärztekammer und der Vereinigung der Kassenärzte mit einem Forschungspreis ausgezeichnet. Die Jury hob “die Mischung aus biographischen Kurzdarstellungen und exemplarischen Lebensbildern” hervor.
