The Technical University of Munich* – At German Universities: Scholarships, at Least in Theory – 4
In addition, it would have meant the start of a new culture of giving in Germany, with the creation of powerful fundraising departments in the universities. But the opportunity was missed.

*In the area of engineering/technology and computer sciences, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities compiled by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Technical University of Munich, officially recognized by the German government as an “elite university,” is ranked with twenty-two other universities at 78 or below, well beneath such institutions as the Technical University of Denmark. (http://www.arwu.org/ARWUFIELD2009ENG.jsp) According to The Times of London, in its Higher Education Supplement [THES], World University Rankings, 2009, the Technical University of Munich is ranked 55 overall among the world’s universities. That is, for example, seven places below Seoul National University.

Außerdem hätte es wirklich mal den Einstieg in eine neue Spendenkultur bedeutet, nämlich den Aufbau schlagkräftiger Fundraising-Abteilungen an den Hochschulen. Chance vertan.
