Sometimes, when Axel Freimuth, Rector of the University of Cologne, walks from his office to the dining hall for lunch, he suddenly loses his appetite. That happens when he sees students sitting on the floor in a building hallway and working at their laptops, because there aren’t enough places available at computer workstations. “At that point,” he says, “I think to myself, ‘It really shouldn’t be this way’.”

Manchmal vergeht Axel Freimuth ganz plötzlich der Appetit. Dann, wenn er mittags von seinem Büro zur Mensa geht und er auf dem Weg dorthin in den Fluren Studenten sieht, die mit ihren Laptops auf den Knien auf dem Boden sitzen, weil nicht genügend PC-Arbeitsplätze vorhanden sind. “Da denke ich immer, das muss doch nicht sein”, sagt der Rektor der Universität Köln.
