The Foreigners’ Authority at the local level kept telling her not to worry about her visa. “But then, when it was time for them to make a decision,” Nathaly said, “they told me with ice-cold directness: we cannot extend your visa. And my world came crashing down around me.” It was only with the help of a friend who was also a lawyer that Nathaly was able to remain in the country and complete the courses required at the study college.

Die Technische Universität München* – Ausländische Studenten und die Universitatsbürokratie – 13
Bei der Ausländerbehörde beruhigte man sie wegen des Visums. »Aber als es so weit war, hat man mir eiskalt gesagt: Wir können ihr Visum nicht verlängern. Für mich ging die Welt unter.« Erst als sich ein befreundeter Anwalt einschaltete, durfte Nathaly bis zum Ende des Studienkollegs bleiben.
