The Technical University of Munich* – Right-Wing Schooling for Germany’s Children: and Germany’s Government Stands Idly By – 5
Niels Annen, Social Democrat, an expert in matters of law and justice: “Maybe there’s a kind of trauma, because the government’s attempts at banning the neo-Nazi NPD failed. You can’t exclude the possibility that the Federal Interior Minister simply wants to avoid any further controversy. But of course that is no justification for ignoring violations of the law by the HDJ, or for ignoring the fact that this organization presents a real danger for our democracy. They’re raising children with the basic ideas and thinking contained in Nazi ideology.”
Federal Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble could ban the “brown” (i.e., Nazi) organization. Instead of that, though, he’s managed to bring himself to the point of carrying out only one half-hearted measure: he’s forbidden the wearing of the HDJ uniform. The Nazis only laugh at that – and continue having the children wear the uniform. The leadership states, “We’ll decide for ourselves what kind of clothes we wear. A piece of paper with a bureaucratic letterhead changes nothing.”

Die Technische Universität München* – Nazi-Schulungen für Kinder: Bundesregierung schaut tatenlos zu – 5
O-Ton Niels Annen, SPD, Innenexperte: „Es gibt vielleicht so etwas wie ein Trauma nach dem gescheiterten NPD-Verbotsverfahren. Das kann man nicht ausschließen, dass der Innenminister eine weitere Debatte vermeiden möchte. Aber das kann natürlich kein Grund sein, über die Gesetzesverstöße der HDJ hinwegzusehen und darüber hinwegzusehen, dass von dieser Organisation eine wirkliche Gefährdung für unsere Demokratie ausgeht. Da werden Kinder erzogen mit den Grundgedanken, Grundüberlegungen des Nationalsozialismus.“
Innenminister Schäuble könnte den braunen Verein verbieten. Doch stattdessen hat er sich bisher nur zu einer halbherzigen Maßnahme überwinden können: Er hat der HDJ die Vereinsuniform untersagt. Doch die Neonazis machen sich nur lustig darüber, stecken die Kinder weiter in Uniform. Zitat HDJ: “Wir entscheiden immer noch selbst, welche Kleidungsstücke wir tragen. Da ändert auch ein Stück Papier mit amtlichem Briefkopf nichts.”
