“An Attack on German University Policy” – but at the Technical University of Munich? – 19
“On the one hand, Munch knows that scientific achievement cannot really be defined numerically. On the other hand, with great enthusiasm, he uses numbers to show us the ways in which science could be done better in Germany, and evaluated more fairly. On the one hand, Munch feels sorry for those whose achievements are unrecognized and unrewarded under the present system. On the other hand, he says himself that outside funding is no guarantee of creative research, and that it often even hinders such research. On the one hand, Munch knows that in science, even in the so-called ‘hard sciences,’ quantity does not really count. On the other hand, he uses a lot of research to demonstrate that outside funding does not necessarily lead to the publication of more scientific papers.”

„Richard Münch attackiert die gegenwärtige Hochschulpolitik“– aber an der Technischen Universität München? – 19
„Einerseits weiß Münch, dass sich wissenschaftliche Leistung nicht in Kennziffern erfassen lässt. Andererseits rechnet er uns mit großem Einsatz vor, wie man es richtiger machen und gerechter bewerten könnte. Einerseits bedauert Münch die Verkannten und Zukurzgekommenen, andererseits sagt er selbst, dass Drittmittel keine Garantie für kreative Forschung sind, ja diese oft verhindern. Einerseits weiß Münch, dass in den Wissenschaften, auch in den Hard Sciences, Menge nicht wirklich zählt. Andererseits verwendet er die meisten Untersuchungen auf den Nachweis, dass Drittmittelforschung nicht notwendig zu mehr Publikationen führt.”
