“University students in Germany fall into two quite different groups, much as they did forty years ago. One group, either from idealism or personal need, protests against having to pay the new university fee the government requires. The other group worries little about a fee of 500 euros ($690) per semester, because Mommy and Daddy will come up with the money without having to sacrifice any vacation plans.”

„Auch heute noch zerfällt die Gruppe der Hochschüler in ganz unterschiedliche Lager. Die einen protestieren, aus Idealismus oder eigener Not, gegen Studiengebühren. Die anderen kümmern die 500 Euro im Semester wenig, weil Papa und Mama einspringen, ohne dass deshalb der Urlaub ausfallen müsste.“
