“So the quite sensational premise of the book rests on gleefully emphasizing some extreme cases. There is of course no need to point out that of the 38,000 professors in Germany, one thinks more often of the committed and conscientious ones than of the dubious good-for-nothings. That is a point the authors are naturally already aware of, and they do stress that everyone should admire the good, ‘busy’ professors – it is just that we should also be on guard against the ‘idle’ ones.”

„Das Buch macht also ordentlich Rabatz und lebt dabei vom genüsslichen Ausbreiten extremer Fälle. Den Hinweis, dass es 38.000 Professoren in Deutschland gibt und einem spontan sogar mehr engagierte und vor Gewissenhaftigkeit strotzende Professoren einfallen als dubiose Taugenichtse, kann man sich getrost sparen. Den Einwand kennen die Autoren natürlich schon, und sie beteuern, vor den guten, “tätigen” Professoren müsse man den Hut ziehen – nur vor den “untätigen” solle man sich hüten.”
