Second Series: “Professor Do-Nothing”? At the Technical University of Munich? – 8
“Reporter’s Commentary: No one monitors professors’ activities, whether they are carrying out research or twiddling their thumbs. In this respect they are completely free and independent. And internationally – professors at German universities are bringing up the rear. The great age of research in this country is behind us. Between 1900 and 1930 fourteen Nobel laureates in chemistry alone came from Germany. And today? There are four. And these four live and do their research in the United States. Moreover, the whole process of advising students is better in the USA as well.”

Zweite Serie: Professor Untat? An der Technischen Universität München? – 8
„Keiner kontrolliert, ob der Herr Professor forscht oder Däumchen dreht. Er ist da ganz frei und unabhängig. Und wird international – zum Schlusslicht. Die Glanzzeit der Forschung liegt hinter uns. Zwischen 1900 und 1930 kamen allein 14 Nobelpreisträger für Chemie aus Deutschland. Und heute? Gibt es vier. Die aber leben und forschen in den USA. Dort ist auch die studentische Betreuung besser.”
