The OECD Report: Is German Education Losing Its Touch – Even at the Technical University of Munich? – 6
“The OECD is critical of the financial resources allocated to the German education system, as well as the way those resources are distributed within that system. Expenditure on education is currently 5.3 percent of German GDP, markedly below the OECD average of 5.9 percent. Moreover, the German government finances its universities better than its kindergartens. The report calls this ‘economically inexplicable,’ since the funds a society invests in the pre-school area yield an especially high return.”

OECD Studie: Deutschland verliert Anschluss – auch an der Technischen Universität München? – 6
„Kritik übt die OECD an der Finanzausstattung des Bildungssystems sowie an einer falschen Verteilung der Mittel. Der Anteil der Bildungsausgaben am Bruttoinlandsprodukt liege mit 5,3 Prozent deutlich unter dem OECD-Durchschnitt von 5,9 Prozent. Zudem finanziere der deutsche Staat den Hochschulbereich stärker als die Kindergärten. Das sei “bildungsökonomisch nicht erklärbar”, da die gesellschaftlichen Erträge im Vorschulbereich besonders hoch seien.”
