A Revolutionary (for German Universities) Idea, but One Which Would Be Quite Superfluous at the Technical University of Munich – 13
“The Berlin data protection office is afraid there might be enormous disadvantages for professors who are evaluated on the website. It fears, for example, some professors might not receive research grants or other outside funding because of poor evaluations. The data protection office wants to have far-reaching changes in the student website carried out. Among other things, it wants a new type of user registration implemented so that not just anyone can access information about a given professor. Such a change would of course mean an end to any kind of public forum. Secondary school students and those considering a different field of study would have no access to relevant data.”

Eine (an deutschen Universitäten) revolutionäre Idee, die aber an der Technischen Universität München völlig überflüssig wäre – 13
„Der Berliner Datenschutzbeauftragte befürchtet dennoch massive Nachteile für bewertete Professoren zum Beispiel bei der Vergabe von Drittmitteln und will daher weitreichende Änderungen durchsetzen, unter anderem eine neue Form der Nutzerregistrierung, damit nicht mehr jeder die Daten der Professoren abrufen kann. Damit wäre das öffentliche Forum am Ende, interessierte Abiturienten und Studienwechsler blieben außen vor.“
