A Revolutionary (for German Universities) Idea, but One Which Would Be Quite Superfluous at the Technical University of Munich – 4
“Thousands of people have already registered at the website, which has three million hits a month. No wonder that professors are increasingly afraid of it. Its enormous success also reflects the new sense of identity that students in Germany have acquired, now that the state no longer pays the whole cost of their education. Students are more demanding now; they want to express their opinions, and they want to be heard. More than that, says Pruss, ‘The university can’t hand out questionnaires asking for our views and then keep the results from us.’ That is exactly what happens: many universities have in past years asked for evaluations of their instructors, but then the resulting data is given mainly only to the instructors themselves.”

Eine (an deutschen Universitäten) revolutionäre Idee, die aber an der Technischen Universität München völlig überflüssig wäre – 4
„Tausende Nutzer haben sich bereits registriert, die Seitenabrufe summieren sich mittlerweile auf drei Millionen im Monat. Kein Wunder, dass Professoren die Website zunehmend fürchten. Ihr enormer Erfolg spiegelt auch das neue Selbstverständnis der Studenten in Zeiten von Studiengebühren wider: Deutschlands Studenten stellen Ansprüche. Sie wollen ihre Meinung sagen und auch gehört werden. »Es kann nicht sein, dass man uns erst in Fragebögen nach unserer Meinung fragt und uns dann die Ergebnisse vorenthält«, sagt Pruss. Tatsächlich haben viele Hochschulen in den vergangenen Jahren regelmäßige Evaluationen eingeführt, doch die Auswertung der Daten ist meist nur den Dozenten zugänglich.“
