She took me to see &#8220;Gone with the Wind.&#8221; I don&#8217;t remember how many times.<sup>1<\/sup> My mother went into reveries about men with gleaming sabres on horseback<sup>2<\/sup>. She remembers how handsome Billy Westmoreland looked in his uniform when he came to church<sup>3<\/sup>.  I suspect &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Wind_Done_Gone\" target=\"_blank\">The Wind Done Gone<sup>4<\/sup><\/a>&#8221; is more my style.<\/p>\n<p><sup>1<\/sup>Frankly <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Scarlett_O'Hara\" target=\"_blank\">Scarlett<\/a><sup>i<\/sup>, I don&#8217;t give a damn.<\/p>\n<p><sup>2<\/sup>She was, however, partial to gray uniforms.<\/p>\n<p><sup>3<\/sup>I guess <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/West_Point\" target=\"_blank\">West Point Gray<\/a> was close enought for her<sup>ii<\/sup>. She could have held out for <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_Naval_Academy\" target=\"_blank\">Annapolis Blue<\/a>, but she married a Pennsylvania Dutch school teacher. Go figure.<\/p>\n<p><sup>4<\/sup>Make-believe, it would seem, in the Mind of the Law is real enough to merit the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Suntrust_v._Houghton_Mifflin\" target=\"_blank\">attention of the Eleventh Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals<\/a>. Was this case really about the money or was it about who owns history?<\/p>\n<p><sup>I<\/sup>Jo was a redhead too, but I was more circumspect with her.<\/p>\n<p><sup>II<\/sup>She thought Billy got a raw deal about that &#8220;Viet Nam business<sup>i<\/sup>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><sup>i<\/sup>She was aware of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Military-industrial_complex\" target=\"_blank\">cautionary departing address<\/a> of  <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dwight_Eisenhower\" target=\"_blank\">President\/General of the Army Dwight David Eisenhower<\/a>, for whom she and Guy both voted, but it seems to have had little or no effect on either of them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brothers consulting on their computing environment.
