But they came up fighting last Friday, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/stoptorture\/2007\/11\/01\/call-senators-in-ny-ca-vt-wisconsin-and-maryland-now-urging-them-to-vote-against-mukasey\/\" target=\"_blank\">urging us to call our Senators to oppose the nomination<\/a>. They provide phone numbers. There is still time, since the Senate Judiciary Committee vote is tomorrow Nov. 6. Pundits believe that the chances of stopping the nomination in Committee are much better than stopping it on the floor of the full Senate.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/fensterm\/wp-admin\/The%20Stop%20Torture%20front%20page\" target=\"_blank\">The Stop Torture front page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>John Nichols, who writes for the Nation and the Capitol Times,  says that over the weekend <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Russ_Feingold\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold<\/a> launched  a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madison.com\/tct\/news\/\/index.php?ntid=255170\" target=\"_blank\">new campaign to block approval of the nomination<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><sup>2<\/sup>Note the Post-Orwellian locution for &#8220;prisoner&#8221; and &#8220;torture&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Coalition member demands &#8220;Habeas Now!&#8221;.
