He is referring to the Dersh&#8217;s attempts first to stop publication [according to Chomsky]  of Finkelstein&#8217;s book <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ucpress.edu\/books\/pages\/10505.html\">Beyond Chutzpah<\/a><sup>1<\/sup> then failing that, to cause <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thecrimson.com\/article.aspx?ref=518002\">Finkelstein to be denied tenure<\/a>. Noam claims that DePaul University has complained to Harvard administration about Dersh&#8217;s kibitzing. In an April 12 article [w. correction 4\/14], <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2007\/04\/12\/arts\/12tenu.html?em&amp;ex=1176523200&amp;en=81b0a33ed5e58c43&amp;ei=5087%0A\">A Bitter Spat Over Ideas, Israel and Tenure<\/a>, Patricia Cohen of the New York Times says:<!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>At one point the 12-member Arts and Sciences\u2019 Faculty Governance Council, annoyed by Mr. Dershowitz\u2019s pressure, unanimously voted to send letters to the presidents of DePaul and Harvard complaining of Mr. Dershowitz\u2019s interference.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Noam asserted that Holocaust scholar <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Raul_Hilberg\">Raul Hilberg<\/a> supports Finkelstein. Finkelstein is the son of Holocaust survivors.<br \/>\n<sup>1<\/sup> In an <a href=\"http:\/\/chronicle.com\/weekly\/v52\/i02\/02a09501.htm\">e-mail to the Chronicle of Higher Education<\/a>, Dersh denies that he was trying to stop publication of the book.
