War to End All Wars is Over!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918&#8230;<\/h1>\n<p>&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Armistice_with_Germany_%28Compi%C3%A8gne%29\" target=\"_blank\">an armistice was signed between the Allies and Germany.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1631\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/fensterm\/files\/2010\/11\/Armisticetrain_slight_crop.jpg\" alt=\"Armistice train 11\/11\/1918 Compeign Forest essentially ending WWI.\" width=\"504\" height=\"673\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/fensterm\/files\/2010\/11\/Armisticetrain_slight_crop.jpg 504w, https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/fensterm\/files\/2010\/11\/Armisticetrain_slight_crop-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 504px) 100vw, 504px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/kenneth-c-davis\/veterans-day-the-forgotte_b_781482.html\" target=\"_blank\">It was the end of fighting on the Western Front of <strong>The Great War<\/strong>. The <strong>War to end All Wars<\/strong> was essentially over. The following year President Woodrow Wilson declared November 11<strong>, Armistice Day<\/strong>. But there was another great war in Europe. In it&#8217;s wake, the first one became <strong>World War I<\/strong>. In 1954, President Eisenhower, &#8216;repurposed&#8217; the holiday into <strong>Veteran&#8217;s Day.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have never served in the military, but I have spent most of my adult life marching. This year, Pat Scanlon, speaking and performing his music at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.communitychurchofboston.org\/home\/\">the Community Church of Boston<\/a>, invited us to march with the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.massvfp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Veterans for Peace<\/a>, Boston Chapter<\/strong> proudly known as the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Smedley_Butler\" target=\"_blank\">Smedley D. One veteran from Community Church[below right] is recovering from recent heart surgery.
