Its quality represents a fitting final chapter to John Stevenson<\/a>‘s stewardship of the journal of the Haiku Society of America.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> As we reported<\/a> last September, John Stevenson has taken over as the new Managing Editor of The Heron\u2019s Nest<\/a><\/em>. The next issue of Frogpond<\/em> (Spring\/Summer 2008), will be in the good hands of another of f\/k\/a’<\/em>s haiku friends, the venerable George Swede<\/a> (see our prior post<\/a>). Congratulations to John on a job done with style and great care, and best wishes to him and to George in their new roles at the helms of two of the haiku community’s most important journals.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Eleven of the haiku and eleven of the senryu<\/a> in Frogpond<\/em> XXXI:1 were penned by members of our Honored Guest poets team, and we’ll be sharing them here at f\/k\/a<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0 You’ll find their senryu from the Winter 2008 edition of Frogpond<\/em> below. \u00a0 (Samples of their haiku will be posted before Valentine’s Day.)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> T<\/strong><\/em>his edition of Frogpond<\/em> sports a photograph on its cover<\/a> for the first time — a lily pad image taken by Yu Chang<\/a>. For several years, HSA’s (apparently former) logo — a sumi-e brush painting of a heron<\/a>, by Stephen Addiss<\/a> — could be found on Frogpond<\/em>‘s cover. We like the water lily and hope it will stay for a while on Frogpond<\/em>‘s cover (and not be the start of a series of photos).
