Frankly, I&#8217;ve been wondering if she is as sick of our &#8220;wintry mix&#8221; weather here in New York State as I am. [And, don&#8217;t even <a href=\"http:\/\/althouse.blogspot.com\/2007\/12\/injuries-of-day.html\">ask her about<\/a> the unfriendly ice rinks, cement trees and pedestrians of NYC.]   Schenectady is a couple-hour drive north (in good weather) from Ann&#8217;s current abode.    We&#8217;ve got more snow\/sleet combo coming our way tonight, and Brooklyn has a couple similar days and nights in its forecast this week.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><em>freezing rain<br \/>\ntallying the strike vote<br \/>\nat the union hall<\/em><\/p>\n<p>. . . . . . . . &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;. . .  Ed Markowski, <em>Frogpond<\/em> XXV:2<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I bet Ann is missing <em>real<\/em> winter back in Wisconsin (going down to 15 degrees F. tonight), where the temperatures relegate &#8220;wintry mix&#8221; to the category of snack food.  In case Prof. Althouse is feeling nostalgic, I&#8217;m going to run a small version of a photo she took two winters ago, while &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/althouse.blogspot.com\/2005\/01\/snowed-in.html\">snowed in<\/a>&#8221; in Madison (Jan. 6, 2005).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/files\/2007\/12\/althousechairl.jpg\" \/> [<a href=\"http:\/\/althouse.blogspot.com\/2005\/01\/snowed-in.html\">orig<\/a>., by Ann Althouse]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>Adirondack chair<br \/>\nupholstered<br \/>\nwith snow<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That poem was inspired by the photo, and written the same day it was posted at the Althouse weblog. (see our post on <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/2005\/01\/06\/warming-my-neck-after-sticking-it-out\/\">Jan. 6, 2005<\/a>)  Since then, it was selected to appear at <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.poetrylives.com\/SimplyHaiku\/SHv3n4\/haiku\/david_giacalone.html\">Simply Haiku<\/a><\/em> (Vol. 3, No. 4, Winter 2005), and anthologized in the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/tarlton.law.utexas.edu\/lpop\/etext\/lsf\/30-1-2\/giacalone.html\">Legal Studies Forum<\/a><\/em>  XXX (2006).  So, you have to wonder why (other than my usual peridementia and faulty memory) I don&#8217;t check out Ann&#8217;s photography more often at her weblog, which mixes great photos with interesting punditry (often on politics and recently especially on Senators <a href=\"http:\/\/althouse.blogspot.com\/2007\/12\/audacity-of-oprah.html\">Barack<\/a> H. <a href=\"http:\/\/althouse.blogspot.com\/2007\/12\/obamas-one-says-oprah.html\">Obama<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/althouse.blogspot.com\/2007\/12\/on-paper-they-look-awful-lot-like.html\">Hillary<\/a> R. <a href=\"http:\/\/althouse.blogspot.com\/2007\/12\/how-smart-is-it-for-woman-with-such-bad.html\">Clinton<\/a>).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/files\/2007\/12\/althousenycdec2007.jpg\" \/>  For example, check out her gorgeous shot of the New York skyline, posted on Dec. 3, 2007.
