at a weblog and don&#8217;t expect that<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">I ever will.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; My sentiments about fully-employed lawyers and law professors soliciting handouts<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">were expressed well earlier this year by <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.myshingle.com\"><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" color=\"black\" size=\"2\">MyShingle<\/FONT><\/A><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" color=\"black\">&#8216;s Carolyn Elefant, in this <\/FONT><\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/discuss\/msgReader$404?mode=day\"><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" color=\"black\" size=\"2\">Comment<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">:<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">&#8220;I don&#8217;t like the idea of law bloggers posting ads at their site. &#8212; (just like I don&#8217;t like <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">bloggers who pass the hat with &#8220;pay pal&#8221; requests).&nbsp; As a business matter, I don&#8217;t <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">know that I&#8217;d want to go to an attorney who didn&#8217;t have the resources to sustain <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">a blog site without collecting ad revenues.&#8221;<\/FONT><\/DIV><\/BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/complats.gif\" alt=\"coin plate\" \/>&nbsp; Thus, I had to cringe today, when I saw <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.professorbainbridge.com\/2004\/11\/a_new_way_to_su.html\"><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">Steve Bainbridge&#8217;s post<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> captioned <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">&#8220;A new way to support the blog.&#8221;&nbsp; I&#8217;d<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">like to assure Steve that his weblog visitors are smart enough to find him and ask directly how to<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">leave a tip &#8212; they don&#8217;t need constant reminders for &#8220;impulse charity.&#8221;&nbsp; Also, if law professors really<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">want to get extra credit for weblogging, they might want to lose the <EM>BillBlog<\/EM> [ BlogBoard? ] image.<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">You may have noticed that I frequently link to posts by Steven Bainbridge.&nbsp; I want to assure him<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">and my readers that I have nothing personal against Prof. B.&nbsp; I do have, however, a limited amount <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">of time and energy for surfing the weblawg universe, and stopping by his place is quite convenient<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\"><FONT size=\"2\">&nbsp;for me, <\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\">as it gives me<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<UL><br \/>\n<UL><br \/>\n<LI><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">Lots of interesting material <\/FONT><br \/>\n<LI><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">Lots of things I agree with <\/FONT><br \/>\n<LI><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">Lots of things I disagree with <\/FONT><br \/>\n<LI><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\"><FONT size=\"2\">Lots of self-righteous religiosity that I believe needs to be countered<\/FONT> <\/FONT><br \/>\n<LI><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">Quite a bit of inconsistent &#8212; &#8220;cafeteria&#8221; &#8212; application of ideologies and principles.<\/FONT><\/LI><\/UL><\/UL><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">So, before the Thanksgiving weekend is through, I want to say that I am sincerely grateful that Prof.<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\">Bainbridge&#8217;s &#8220;eclectic&#8221; weblog exists and I wish him well.&nbsp; [<EM>E.g.<\/EM>, I love the irony that, just <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.professorbainbridge.com\/2004\/11\/rolling_the_dic.html\"><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\">yesterday<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\">, <\/FONT><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\">Prof. B insinuated that an author of a book on politics took a public position &#8220;to sell those books <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\">and keep those speaking engagements coming.&#8221;&nbsp;&nbsp; I couldn&#8217;t <EM>pay<\/EM> some one to say this kind of stuff!]<\/FONT><\/DIV><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/donkey.jpg\" alt=\"donkey\" \/>&nbsp;
