And that is what carries one through law school and beyond, <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">whatever the career path.&nbsp; <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\"><EM>You now know that we teachers spoke the truth when we told you that we could do no more than prepare <\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\"><EM>you for a lifetime of self education. <\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\">We passed on the culture mainly by sowing seeds. The <A href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2004\/11\/12\/politics\/12cabinet.html?ei=5090&amp;en=d556e881c884e847&amp;ex=1257915600&amp;partner=rssuserland&amp;pagewanted=all&amp;position=\"><EM><FONT color=\"black\">New York Times<\/FONT><\/EM><\/A>,&nbsp;and many webloggers (<A href=\"http:\/\/volokh.com\/archives\/archive_2004_11_07.shtml#1100102716\"><FONT color=\"black\">e.g<\/FONT><\/A>.), are talking about whether appointment of <A href=\"http:\/\/www.professorbainbridge.com\/2004\/11\/the_ag_and_the_.html\">Alberto Gonzales<\/A> to be AG is more or less likely to position him for a Supreme Court nomination.&nbsp; Despite Steve Bainbridge&#8217;s <A href=\"http:\/\/www.professorbainbridge.com\/2004\/11\/the_ag_and_the_.html\"><FONT color=\"black\">points<\/FONT><\/A><FONT color=\"black\">,<\/FONT> it seems to me that being recently vetted for Attorney General does not and should not give a nominee&nbsp;a get-into-court free card &#8212; not only are they very different positions, but service as AG may provide much insight about the candidate.&nbsp; [Prof. B certainly cannot be gainsaid, however, that &#8220;Blogospheric prognostication has proved fallible.&#8221;&nbsp; Is he&nbsp;similarly insightful in class?]<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\"><STRONG><EM><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/snowpileshovelflip.gif\" alt=\"snow pile flip\" \/>&nbsp; Snow Job?<\/EM><\/STRONG> &nbsp;<\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.billoreilly.com\/\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\">Bill O&#8217;Reilly<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\"> was on the <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.charlierose.com\/index.shtm\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\">Charlie Rose Show<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\"> last night (11\/11\/04) &#8212; see the <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><A href=\"http:\/\/boards.charlierose.com\/board\/topic.asp?ti=9902\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" color=\"black\">forum discussion<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\">.&nbsp; O&#8217;Reilly says he now has people with him 24 hours a day to assure he never again<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">gets attacked with false charges like the recent sexual harassment allegations.&nbsp; Bill blames the<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">internet and weblogs for creating an atmosphere where every rich or famous person now has no<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">ability to defend themselves from false charges.&nbsp; O&#8217;Reilly constantly stated that the settlement<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">agreement kept him from discussing the case (and that he had insisted on the clause) <EM>and<\/EM> that<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">the settlement &#8220;said I did nothing wrong.&#8221;&nbsp;
