It is the practical application <\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><EM>of the law to life. It is the practice of law. <BR><BR>&#8211; Finally, I try to emphasize to new lawyers that we as attorneys are in a sense the<\/EM> Chosen People<EM>, with<\/EM> <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><EM>special duties, and thereby have special responsibilities to society to see that justice is done. The law is the <\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><EM>bulwark of freedom and the antidote for violence. <\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><EM><\/EM><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><EM>&#8211;<\/EM> Former Chief Circuit Judge <A href=\"http:\/\/www.flabar.org\/DIVLGL\/PF\/VidRshLb.nsf\/0\/80bdcfd628f0a4be852568c5005944f6?OpenDocument\"><FONT color=\"black\">Gerald Wetherington<\/FONT><\/A> recently wrote about &#8220;A Lawyer&#8217;s Duty&#8221; in the Dade County <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">Bar Bulletin. He noted<EM>: . . . &#8220;The motivation of a lawyer to do the right thing should come primarily from within<\/EM> <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><EM>as a matter of personal integrity, and not primarily from the fear of external compulsion.
