{"id":4586,"date":"2003-09-15T07:10:33","date_gmt":"2003-09-15T11:10:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/formerlyknownas\/2003\/09\/15\/ask-and-ye-shall-receive-with"},"modified":"2011-08-05T15:00:40","modified_gmt":"2011-08-05T19:00:40","slug":"ask-and-ye-shall-receive-with-a-smile-and-a-song","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/2003\/09\/15\/ask-and-ye-shall-receive-with-a-smile-and-a-song\/","title":{"rendered":"Ask and Ye Shall Receive, with a Smile and a Song"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name='a270'><\/a><\/p>\n<p><DIV><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\">Blawgging doesn&#8217;t get any cooler than this &#8212; having a <A href=\"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/ \">MadKane.com<\/A>&nbsp;song stanza written specially to accompany my recent&nbsp;<A href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/2003\/09\/11#a260\">complaint<\/A> against lawyers&nbsp;who engage in driving while telephoning (DWT)<\/FONT><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\">.&nbsp; As Madeleine Begun Kane explains in her posting this morning, &#8220;Legal Humor and <A href=\"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/notable08_03a.html#09_15_03 \">Interactive Songwriting<\/A>&#8221;&nbsp;(Sept. 15, 2003):&nbsp; <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\"><FONT size=\"2\">Some songs go platinum. One of mine has gone interactive. I&#8217;m referring to my song parody <\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\"><EM><A href=\"http:\/\/www.madkane.com\/law_song.html \">That&#8217;s What The Law&#8217;s About<\/A><\/EM>,<\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\">&nbsp;which I wrote Saturday and which can be sung to that wedding perennial, &#8220;The Hokey Pokey.&#8221; <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<P><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\"><FONT size=\"2\">Within hours of my posting it, <\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\">David Giacalone of <EM>ethicalEsq?<\/EM><\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\"> (who found my legal spoof through <\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\">Denise Howell&#8217;s eclectic Bag and Baggage<\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\">) had linked to it and <\/FONT><\/FONT><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"><A href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/2003\/09\/13#a266\">requested an additional stanza<\/A>: <\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\">a car-phoning stanza to go with his <\/FONT><\/FONT><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\"><FONT size=\"2\">rant about lawyers using their cell phones while driving.<\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\"> He even threatened to write one himself if I didn&#8217;t come through for him. <\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\n<P><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">That sounded to me like an offer I couldn&#8217;t refuse.
