little hands — thanks to haijin-lawyer and f\/k\/a-<\/EM>friend <\/FONT>roberta beary<\/FONT><\/A>. <\/FONT><\/DIV>

The anthology features haiku, senryu and haibun from over seventy <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
poets. <\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV>

life.  But often publishers have been reluctant to print <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>

haiku dealing with controversial themes such as sexu-<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
ality, violence, bodily funtions, etc. <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><\/BLOCKQUOTE>

Taboo Haiku is a mass-market anthology that will <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
feature the finest international Haiku dealing with the <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
themes that often go unexplored in mainstream haiku <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
publications. <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
<\/FONT><\/SPAN> <\/DIV>
\n
We are looking for poems that will move readers emo-<\/EM><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>

In his introduction to Taboo Haiku<\/EM>, Kracwiez notes that “In many   <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>

of the poems in this anthology, the writers have willingly exposed <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
their own moral and ethical flaws.  They’ve been willing to risk re-<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
vealing themselves in public.” He continues: <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n

“Editing this anthology has brought its own, ad-<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
mittedly minor, risks for me, too.  I teach a lot <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
of writing residencies in the public schools, often <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
working with children in the elementary grades.  <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
On two occasions I lost jobs because a teacher <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
googled me and found my name associated with <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
this book.  The fact that I was involved in an adult-<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
oriented project apprarently made it “taboo” to hire <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
me to teach children.” <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><\/BLOCKQUOTE>
\n
The 104-page book contains many intriguing haiku and senryu,<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
plus a handful of haibun.  I think Krawiec has achieved his hope —<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
\n
an anthology that “stands apart” by reaching out:<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV>
