I may have to stop reading Blawg Review<\/A><\/EM> every week. <\/FONT>No, it’s not <\/FONT><\/DIV>

because of its <\/FONT>cutesy<\/FONT><\/A> title.  It’s far more <\/FONT>practical: The darn “carnival” <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
of law-related weblogs <\/FONT>keeps adding to my to-do list of things to read <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
— and <\/FONT>then, naturally, of things to write — at a pace that can <\/FONT>never be <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
accomplished.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
<\/FONT> <\/DIV>
\n
\"computer<\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
<\/FONT> <\/DIV>
\n
For example, Sean Sirrine hosted Blawg Review<\/EM> #46<\/A> <\/FONT>at DeNovo<\/EM> this <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
week, and there are simply too many <\/FONT>recent postings that sound inter-<\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
esting and\/or enter<\/FONT>taining, not to mention the must-reads.  (Go, see<\/A> for <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
yourself.)  I used to <\/FONT>hope that Blawg Review<\/EM> would <\/FONT>introduce me to one <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
brand new weblog each week.  <\/FONT>Now, to be honest, <\/FONT>I hope it tempts me <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
to read no more <\/FONT>than one or two <\/FONT>postings each week.  <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n

This week, I’m going to check out Bruce MacEwen’s look at  <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
BigLaw in 2015, at Adam Smith Esq<\/A><\/EM>. and follow the pointers <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
at David Jacobson’s Other Interests<\/EM> weblog<\/A>, regarding the <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
lack of optimism among lawyers. (By the way, David surely <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
doesn’t have to worry about low-esteem — check out his <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n

weblog can educate old E.L.<\/FONT> — including pointing out why the issues <\/FONT><\/DIV>

raised are not really <\/FONT>caused by the McCarran-Ferguson Act’s antitrust <\/FONT><\/DIV>

exemption <\/FONT>for the business of insurance.  This former antitrust lawyer <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
(who <\/FONT>spent a lot of time trying to get rid of that exemption) just <\/FONT>hasn’t <\/FONT><\/DIV>

respond to Sean Sirrine’s plea that we all start “giving out permanent links” to <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
eachother again.  Sean wants us to put more weblogs on Blog Rolls, when we see <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
a <\/FONT>post <\/FONT>that is <\/FONT>well done.  He likens the process to tipping for good service.  <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
<\/FONT> <\/DIV>
\n
Sorry, it’s not for me.  Perhaps it was because Blog Rolls seemed so gimmicky <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
when <\/FONT>I started weblogging (meant to create a clubby feel and to goose search engine <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
placement), but I have never had one and don’t plan to start.  As the number of law <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
weblogs multiplied, it became impractical to keep a list of every weblog that seemed <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
worth a look.  And, once a list is started, pruning out the deadwood becomes rather <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
touchy, and distinguishing between their quality and scope is impossible.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
<\/FONT> <\/DIV>
\n

Sean worries about law-oriented weblogs becoming static and “talking about the <\/FONT><\/DIV>

same things,” but I still see lots of topics and choices — while wanting the best <\/FONT><\/DIV>

weblogs to keep doing what they do best.  Perhaps, this gets back to my opening <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
theme at the top of this post: Who has time for reading ever-more weblogs?  When <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
do law students study?  When do lawyers practice law?  When do they have lives <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
away from their computers?  <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
<\/FONT> <\/DIV>
\n
There are many ways for those in search of new weblogs to find them.  Browsing <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
long and un-annotated blog rolls — created by bloggers who are promiscuous with <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
their Link Love —<\/FONT> seems like one of the least efficient ways to do so<\/FONT>.   Taking a <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
look at the weekly Blawg Review<\/EM> is a pretty good place to start — but don’t feel <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
you have to “Read them all,” like Sean says.   You don’t have to catch every <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
fish in the sea.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
