at <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.wordlab.com\/2006\/01\/dont-panic.cfm\"><EM><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">WordLab<\/FONT><\/EM><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"> about his less-than-complimentary <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">reaction to <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/stories\/storyReader$5803\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"2\">anti-blawg<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"> campaigners.&nbsp; He responded by saying that <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">my facts are wrong, and that there is indeed a group that has coined <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">a special word for their category of weblogs.&nbsp; He cites me to &#8220;<\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/milblogging.com\/\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">milblogs<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">,&#8221; <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">which I learned means &#8220;military blogs.&#8221;&nbsp; Frankly, I think Abnu has in fact <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">strengthened my argument. To wit:&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">The current and former military service-persons who come&nbsp; <SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media-cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/bombFuse.gif\" alt=\"bombFuse\" \/> <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">under the &#8220;milblog&#8221; classification continue to call what they <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">do &#8220;blogs.&#8221;&nbsp; They have added a prefix that alerts the audience <BR>that there may be a special focus or source (although just <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">what it might be is surely not clear without further inquiry) <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">for their weblogs, but there is no doubt that they are &#8220;blogs.&#8221;&nbsp; <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">This avoids the confusing nature of the term &#8220;blawg,&#8221; and does <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">not have the trivializing look of that term. <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><\/BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/jukebox.gif\" alt=\"juke box\" \/> Meanwhile, Prof. Bainbridge (our favorite Cafeteria Conservative) <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\"><FONT size=\"2\"><SPAN>is <\/SPAN><SPAN>like all bent out of shape because Mick Jagger and the Stones <\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">have <EM>gone corporate<\/EM> &#8212; see <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.professorbainbridge.com\/2006\/02\/when_did_jagger.html\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">When did Jagger jump the shark?<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"> (Feb. 6, <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">2005).&nbsp; Mick&#8217;s sin?&nbsp; He let the Super Bowl tv executives lower the <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">volume twice to cover up a couple raunchier lyrics.&nbsp; As I commented <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">at Steve&#8217;s place: &#8220;It is not the least bit &#8216;corporate&#8217; to take your audience <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">into account when singing lyrics. It shows a maturity (and self-confidence) <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">that most 20-somethings do not have, but I would hope that those over 40 <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">do.&#8221;<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">On the other hand, Prof. B is correct that I should not <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">have suggested he would have called for censorship, if <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">those very same lyrics had in fact been audible. Although <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">I have no doubt that his &#8220;political, philosophical, and religious <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\"><FONT size=\"2\"><SPAN>allies would be com<\/SPAN><SPAN>plaining mightily today, if Mick had in fact <\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">sang the more sexually-explicit lyrics in an audible manner.&#8221;<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">and Steve often <EM>does<\/EM> complain about the low morals of the <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\"><FONT size=\"2\"><SPAN>enter<\/SPAN><SPAN>tainment industry, he has been consistently against <\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\"><FONT size=\"2\"><EM>government<\/EM> censorship.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT><\/SPAN>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">More important, Steve is also right that I should not have <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\"><FONT size=\"2\"><SPAN>used the terms&nbsp;&#8220;blowhard&#8221; or <\/SPAN><SPAN>&#8220;blowhole&#8221; to describe his&nbsp;<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">venting.&nbsp; My sincere apologies, Prof. B, if you were insulted.&nbsp;<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT><\/SPAN>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\"><EM><STRONG><FONT color=\"red\">update<\/FONT><\/STRONG><\/EM> (11 PM):&nbsp; Today, on behalf of the band, spokeswoman Fran <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Curtis <A href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2006\/SHOWBIZ\/Music\/02\/07\/superbowl.stones.ap\/\"><FONT color=\"black\">complained <\/FONT><\/A><\/FONT><\/SPAN><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\"><A href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2006\/SHOWBIZ\/Music\/02\/07\/superbowl.stones.ap\/\"><FONT color=\"black\">about the NFL&#8217;s censorship<\/FONT><\/A> of their lyrics &#8212; with <\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\"><FONT size=\"2\">the lame statement, according to CNN, that &#8220;t<FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\">he band may have known <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\" style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\"><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\">about it, but that <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/SPAN><SPAN><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\">doesn&#8217;t mean they liked it . . .
