Levin<\/A> is hosting <A href=\"http:\/\/mediationblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/02\/blawg-review-43_06.html\"><EM>Blawg Review<\/EM> #43<\/A>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/handshakemf.gif\" alt=\"handshake mf\" \/><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">today at her <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/mediationblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/02\/blawg-review-43_06.html\"><EM><FONT face=\"Arial\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"2\">Online Guide to Mediation<\/FONT><\/EM><\/A><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"> weblog.&nbsp; And, honestly, I would <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">have told you about <EM>BR<\/EM> #43, even if Diane hadn&#8217;t mentioned Your Editor <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">and this weblog (favorably) a bunch of times.&nbsp; [Thanks, Diane, I&#8217;m glad <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">my Mother was able to lobby successfully on behalf of her youngest child.<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">&nbsp;<EM>Emoticon <\/EM><\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>implied<\/EM>.]&nbsp; What did I <EM>law<\/EM>rn from the b<EM>law<\/EM>gy folk?<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">Diane struggled to find a theme for this week&#8217;s <EM>Blawg Review<\/EM>, and <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">ended up waxing dramatic on the interplay between William Shake-<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">spear and the law (plus, the world of lawyer weblogs):<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><STRONG>Why not Shakespeare?<BR><\/STRONG><BR><EM>Shakespeare and the law alike embody the power of language&#8211;<\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>the poetry and nuance of the written and spoken word. Both stand <\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>as enduring institutions, yet are fluid enough to lend themselves to <\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>reinterpretation. Shakespeare and law are theatre&#8211;captivating audi-<\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>ences with tales of comedy, tragedy, crime, justice, betrayal, ambition,<\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>&nbsp;villainy, and love. Both exert profound influence, igniting public passion <\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>and imagination.<\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT><\/BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">&#8220;shakespearePlays&#8221;<BR><BR><EM>Moreover, law and justice emerge often as themes and metaphors <\/EM><\/FONT><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM><FONT color=\"black\">throughout Shakespeare&#x2019;s work. For further reading,&nbsp;<\/FONT><\/EM><A href=\"http:\/\/www.shakespearefellowship.org\/virtualclassroom\/Law\/legalhamlet\/index.htm\"><EM><FONT color=\"black\">click<\/FONT><\/EM><\/A><EM><FONT color=\"black\">] . . . As<\/FONT><\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" color=\"black\" size=\"2\"><EM>I mulled this idea over, it suddenly dawned on me that we law bloggers <\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM><FONT color=\"black\">even have our very own Bard (true, <\/FONT><\/EM><A href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/\"><EM><FONT color=\"black\">David Giacalone<\/FONT><\/EM><\/A><EM><FONT color=\"black\"> pens <\/FONT><\/EM><A href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Haiku\"><EM><FONT color=\"black\">haiku<\/FONT><\/EM><\/A><EM><FONT color=\"black\">, not <\/FONT><\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><A href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shakespearean_sonnet\"><EM><FONT color=\"black\">Elizabethan sonnets<\/FONT><\/EM><\/A><EM><FONT color=\"black\">, but, hey, allow me some poetic license here).<BR>That clinched it for me (especially the serendipitous discovery that <\/FONT><\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><FONT color=\"black\"><EM>David had been a mediator like I am).<\/EM><BR><BR><EM>Therefore, I welcome you to the Shakespearean edition of <\/EM><\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/blawgreview.blogspot.com\/\"><EM><FONT color=\"black\">Blawg Review<\/FONT><\/EM><\/A><EM>.<\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><\/BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">Sounded really good to me, too.&nbsp; You&#8217;ll probably enjoy it also, as <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">Diane mixes <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">lines <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">from Shakespeare with descriptions (and links) to some of the <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">best law-<\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">oriented <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">weblogging of the past week, and more &#8212; such as our 2003<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">essay on the profession&#8217;s response to Shakespeare&#8217;s &#8220;<A href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/stories\/storyReader$950\"><FONT color=\"black\">kill all the lawyers<\/FONT><\/A>&#8221; line.&nbsp; <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/theater.gif\" alt=\"theater curtain\" \/><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">I always like to discover one good new-to-me weblog at <EM>BR<\/EM>&#8216;s weekly carnival,<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">and <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/mediationblog.blogspot.com\/2006\/02\/blawg-review-43_06.html\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Arial\"><FONT color=\"#000000\"><EM>Blawg Review<\/EM> #43<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Arial\"><FONT size=\"2\">&nbsp;did <\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\">not let me down.&nbsp;After checking out <\/FONT><\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.whataboutclients.com\/archives\/2005\/08\/about_dan_hull.html\"><FONT face=\"Arial\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"2\">Dan Hull<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">&#8216;s <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><A href=\"http:\/\/www.whataboutclients.com\/\"><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>What About Clients?<\/EM><\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">, I know I will be returning regularly.&nbsp; Given my feelings <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Arial\">about lawyer branding,<\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\"> I&#8217;m looking forward to seeing Dan&#8217;s <\/FONT><\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Arial\">perspectives, and <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">plan to enjoy the series that began with &#8220;<\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><A href=\"http:\/\/www.whataboutclients.com\/archives\/2006\/01\/firm_logos_are.html\">Law Firm Logos are Goofy<\/A>, Useless, <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">and a Waste of Time and Money.&#8221; So, I was also quite <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\"><FONT size=\"2\">pleased <\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\">to find a pointer at <EM>BR<\/EM> #43 to David Maister&#8217;s recent posting&nbsp;<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\"><FONT size=\"2\"><A href=\"http:\/\/davidmaister.com\/blog\/18\/\">Done at Last! Thoughts on Procrastination<\/A>&nbsp;&#8212; at least until I saw he was <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">trying to cure people of procrastination.&nbsp; Nonetheless, you might know <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">someone who needs it.&nbsp; For myself, despite having a big deadline tonight, <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">I think I&#8217;ll reread Jacob A.
