Two months ago, I posted <\/FONT>let’s all join Haiku Society of America<\/EM><\/FONT><\/A>, urging <\/FONT><\/DIV>

writers and other lovers of haiku and related forms of poetry to join the <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
Haiku Society of America<\/A>.   That’s still a very good idea, for all the <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
reasons I gave in December, including that:<\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n

Along with the regular membership fee of $33 ($30 for students <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
and senior citizens), come the three annual editions of Frogpond<\/STRONG><\/A><\/EM> — <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
HSA’s venerable haiku <\/FONT>journal (and source of many f\/k\/a<\/EM> haiku and <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
senryu); newsletters; plus much <\/FONT>good feeling, camaradie. and occa-<\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
sional familial wrangling.  <\/FONT><\/DIV><\/BLOCKQUOTE>
\n
In addition, there’s one other<\/EM> major benefit to HSA membership — the oppor-<\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n

to encourage neophyte poets to write and submit haiku, while assuring them <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
of publication.  And, its a great way for the Association to show the variety and <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
quality of its members’ work.<\/FONT><\/DIV>

in the Anthology for 2005.  Let me get on my soapbox, and say that being part <\/FONT><\/DIV>

of the Anthology seems, to old haikuEsq<\/EM>, to be more than a benefit of membership, <\/FONT><\/DIV>
\n
it’s also a responsibility<\/EM> — and one that can be easily fulfilled by currently or previ-<\/FONT><\/DIV>

ously active haijin, as submitted poems can be either published or unpublished. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
