Last night, however, we <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">started to wonder about the limits of disclosure &#8212; just how much <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\"><span style=\"color: black\">do we want to know or <em>see<\/em>?<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/magglass.gif\" alt=\"magglass\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">Our journey into DDS (disclosure doubt syndrome) began quite <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">innocently last night &#8212; simply following a pointer from <em>PoL<\/em>&#8216;s <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">editor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pointoflaw.com\/archives\/001655.php\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;color: #000000;font-size: x-small\">Walter Olson<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\"> about the &#8220;Harvard School of Public Health <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">bestowing its Julius Richmond Award on glamour-puss toxic-tort-<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">chaser Erin Brockovich.&#8221;  From Michael Fumento&#8217;s <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.townhall.com\/opinion\/columns\/Michael%20Fumento\/2005\/09\/29\/158660.html\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small\"><em>Town Hall<\/em> column<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">on the topic, we came to the <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">law firm profile page of Erin-Brockovich<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">&#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">Ellis, at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.masryvititoe.com\/erin_brockovich.shtml\">Masry &amp; Vititoe<\/a>, in Westlake Village, California. Scott discusses the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> column &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB121020269170475209.html?mod=personal_journal_columnists_left_column\">Risky Business: Decolletage At a Work Dinner<\/a>&#8221; (WSJ, by Christina Binkley, May 8, 2008). If my rattled brain comes up with a useful reaction, I&#8217;ll report further in a new posting. <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\"><em>[Your Editor was apparently mistaken when writing this update, as Brockovich&#8217;s webpage is back at M&amp;V. Back in<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">March, we also wrote about <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/2005\/03\/11#a3435\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">decloaking associates<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">.  Nonetheless, a<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">close look at the Brockovich profile page raises the question: Just <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">how much <em>disclosure, decolletage and detail<\/em> is necessary or useful <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">for the purpose of choosing a law firm?   I&#8217;ve been a lifelong fan of <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">feminine buxomness (in the sense of definition 1b, and <em>not<\/em> 3., in<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">this <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bartleby.com\/61\/70\/B0587000.html\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">dictionary<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">).  But, exposure and disclosure start to overlap in <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">Ms. B&#8217;s <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.masryvititoe.com\/erin_brockovich.shtml\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">mug<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\"><span style=\"color: black\"> shot<\/span>. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">Similarly, I like to know a little about the personal <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">life of people I might work with, but hearing about two former husbands <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">and jobs held for a few months, and minor beauty pageants, etc. etc.,<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">seems a bit much. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/tinycheck.gif\" alt=\"tiny check\" \/> If you&#8217;re <em>that<\/em> interested in Erin&#8217;s life, try her 2001 <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/0071383794\/103-0806886-8722245?v=glance\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">memoir<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">, which is available for as little as 23 cents <\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">at the Amazon.com <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif;font-size: x-small\">Marketplace.
