Frankly, they <\/font><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> don&#8217;t <\/font><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\"><font size=\"2\">get any better than our newest Honored Guest poet, <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brooksbookshaiku.com\/haikupoets\/gurga.html\"><font size=\"2\">Lee Gurga<\/font><\/a><font size=\"2\">. <\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media-cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/GurgaMug.jpg\" alt=\"GurgaMug\" \/>  Born in Chicago, Lee lives and works as a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.appledental-lincoln.com\/about.html\">general dentist<\/a><\/font><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> in <\/font><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">the farming community of Lincoln, Illinois.  A past president of the <\/font><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">Haiku Society of America, he is currently editor of <em><font color=\"#000000\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.modernhaiku.org.\">Modern Haiku<\/a><\/font><\/em>,<\/font><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> the longest-running journal of haiku and haiku studies in English. <\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">His haiku collections have twice been chosen as best of the year<\/font><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> by HSA, and his <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/0974189405\/ref=pd_sr_ec_ir_b\/104-1569557-1267912?v=glance&amp;s=books&amp;st=*\"><font color=\"#000000\" face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"><em>Haiku: A Poet&#8217;s Guide<\/em><\/font><\/a><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> was recognized by HSA<\/font><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> as the \u201cBest Book of Criticism\u201d for 2004. <\/font><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">Of course, as with our other Honored Guests, we care far more<\/font><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> about the poet&#8217;s haiku and senryu than about his credentials.  In the <\/font><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> haiku of Lee Gurga, I believe you will see not only a mastery of the<\/font><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> genre, but also the personal warmth and empathy that is mentioned <\/font><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">by all who know him and his work.  This is one dentist that everyone<\/font><font face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\"> likes to visit &#8212; and to bring home.
