Clarke<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">&nbsp;was the bill&#8217;s primary sponsor.&nbsp; Clarke is quoted in <FONT color=\"black\">a <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><A href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2005\/06\/10\/nyregion\/10lives.html\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT color=\"black\"><EM>NYT<\/EM> feature<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">&nbsp;<\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">article saying &#8220;To me, this bill goes beyond toilet significance.&nbsp; It goes all the way to the <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">issue of <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">gender equality, and quality of life.&#8221; (<EM>NYT<\/EM>, &#8220;Time for a Bathroom Break, With No Waiting, <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">June <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">10, 2005)&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/womroom001.gif\" alt=\"womens rm\" \/>&nbsp; <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/womroom001.gif\" alt=\"womens rm\" \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&#8220;Mens rm&#8221;<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">Although our prior discussion of potty parity<FONT color=\"black\">&nbsp;<\/FONT><\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" color=\"black\" size=\"2\">(<A href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/2003\/06\/14#a60\"><FONT color=\"black\">two years ago<\/FONT><\/A> today, and <A href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ethicalesq\/2004\/10\/25#a2575\"><FONT color=\"black\">last October<\/FONT><\/A>)<\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"> has <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">been rather tongue-in-check, I want to <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">be a bit more serious with this post.&nbsp; It may be time for <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">males to stop turning the other&nbsp;cheek &#8212; before&nbsp;<\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">the serious struggle to make both genders equal <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">under the law is turned into nothing more than an <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">assertion of women&#8217;s political clout.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Over <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">a mere handful of years, <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">&#8220;potty parity&#8221; went from the reasonable request for &#8220;equalizing excretion <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">opportunities&#8221; &#8212; <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">having the same number of toilets in the Women&#8217;s Room as there were toilets <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">plus <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">urinals in the <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">Men&#8217;s Room &#8212; to demanding the &#8220;equalization of waiting time.&#8221; (<EM>cf<\/EM>. Harvard <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">Alum.
