met an intelligent <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\"><FONT size=\"2\">person who insisted (despite my defense of the American civil justice system) that <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\"><FONT size=\"2\">the <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.snopes.com\/autos\/techno\/cruise.htm\"><FONT size=\"2\">Winnebago-Cruise-Control<\/FONT><\/A><FONT size=\"2\">-$1.75-million verdict really <\/FONT><\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\">happened.&nbsp; Luckily, <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\">I <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\">knew that <\/FONT><\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.overlawyered.com\/archives\/000479.html\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" color=\"black\" size=\"2\">Walter would know<\/FONT><\/A><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\"> &#8212; and he set me <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\">straight:&nbsp; <\/FONT><\/FONT><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\">It&#8217;s an <EM>untrue<\/EM>&nbsp;Urban Legend.&nbsp; <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\">As Mr. Olson says:<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">&#8220;What we wonder is, why would people want to compile lists of made-up <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">legal bizarreries when they can find a vast stockpile of all-too-real ones just <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">by visiting <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.overlawyered.com\/\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" color=\"#003366\" size=\"2\">this website<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\"> [and in particular its personal responsibility archives, <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV><A href=\"http:\/\/www.overlawyered.com\/topics\/responsib.html\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" color=\"#003366\" size=\"2\">older<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\"> and <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.overlawyered.com\/archives\/cat_personal_responsibility.html\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\" color=\"#003366\" size=\"2\">newer<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman\"
