Ron Baker<\/font><\/a>, who has been described as “<\/font>an amazing visionary<\/font><\/a>” by Matt Homann,<\/font> responded this morning to my piece <\/font>“ethics aside”<\/font><\/a>, <\/strong>where I caution lawyers against<\/font><\/font> blindly adopting Baker’s notion of “value billing.” <\/font>\u00a0 Ron, who complains that “The problem with these blogs is they are a mile wide and<\/font> half-inch deep,” wants me to “commit some serious intellectual capital to this debate,”<\/font> by reading his [$149.00] book. Well, I decided to <\/font>respond right away, any way, and<\/font><\/font> at some length. Here’s a key excerpt from my response to Mr. Baker<\/font><\/p>\n

I continue to believe, however, that clients want alternative billing<\/em><\/font> methods in order to have lower overall fees, not because they<\/em><\/font> believe their lawyer is worth more than his or her hourly fee.<\/em><\/font><\/p>\n
