<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">law firms that are <A href=\"http:\/\/www.law.com\/jsp\/article.jsp?id=1110310804357\">removing information about associates<\/A><\/FONT><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"> from their websites&nbsp; &#8212; <EM>e.g.<\/EM>, any<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">biographical and contact&nbsp;information.&nbsp; Well, why don&#8217;t we webloggers <EM>do<\/EM> something about it?&nbsp; <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">Don&#8217;t we have these high-tech pulpits, bulletin boards, file cabinets?&nbsp; Don&#8217;t we get some pretty <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">snazzy search engine results?<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/contactUsN.gif\" alt=\"contactUsN\" \/><\/FONT><\/DIV><\/BLOCKQUOTE><\/BLOCKQUOTE><\/BLOCKQUOTE><\/BLOCKQUOTE><\/BLOCKQUOTE><\/BLOCKQUOTE><\/BLOCKQUOTE><\/BLOCKQUOTE><\/BLOCKQUOTE><\/BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">Seems to me, we could use weblog-power to undo the undue depersonalization of associates.&nbsp; <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">We could post lists of the associates working at the various offending law firms, including as<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">much information as we can get about each lawyer.&nbsp; Then, search engines would find the&nbsp;info <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">and make&nbsp;it available to those wanting to&nbsp;identify the lawyers&nbsp;at a particular firm, or wanting<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">to contact a particular associate, or one with particular areas of expertise.&nbsp; <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">Naturally, the anonymized associates would be expected to get this information,<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">(in as complete, up to date&nbsp;and&nbsp;usable form as possible) to their favorite weblog editors.&nbsp; If<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">the nameless ones can&#8217;t be bothered, or can&#8217;t figure out how to do this, maybe being merely<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">Ms. or Mr. X, Esq is all the identification they merit.&nbsp; <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.arnoldporter.com\/attorneys.cfm?attorney_id=39358\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">Danika Vittitoe<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">, a 2004 graduate of UC&#8217;s Hastings College <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">of the Law, in San Francisco, works in the litigation department at Arnold &amp; Porter in Los Angeles. <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">No, she&#8217;s not famous for any big&nbsp;mistakes or scandals.&nbsp; On Jan. 11, 2004, she was enrolled as<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">Attorney No. 200,000, by the State Bar.&nbsp; According to the <EM><A href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?file=\/chronicle\/archive\/2005\/02\/21\/BAGBTBEKKJ1.DTL\"><FONT color=\"#000000\">San Francisco Chronicle<\/FONT><\/A><\/EM> (Feb. 21,<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">2005), Ms. Vittitoe&nbsp;described her status as No. 200,000 as being &#8220;&#8216;a little embarrassing,&#8221; but &#8220;said <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">there&#8217;s nothing wrong with being a lawyer.&#8221;&nbsp; [rousing endorsement, eh?]&nbsp;<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<UL><br \/>\n<LI><br \/>\n<DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">A&amp;P does provide&nbsp;vita and contact information for each of its attorneys, including associate <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.arnoldporter.com\/attorneys.cfm?attorney_id=39358\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"2\">Vittitoe<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">. <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">The consumer nanny in me was a little bit surprised to see Litigation listed as Danika&#8217;s &#8220;Field of<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\"><FONT size=\"2\"><EM>Expertise<\/EM>.&#8221;&nbsp; I don&#8217;t know when the page was written, but &#8220;expertise&#8221; sounds a bit grandiose for<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Times New Roman,Times,Serif\" size=\"2\">someone who joined the Bar 14 months ago today.&nbsp; &#8220;Field of Practice&#8221; seems more apt.&nbsp;<\/FONT><\/DIV><\/DIV><\/LI><\/UL><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<P><\/P><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Geneva,Arial,Sans-Serif\" size=\"2\">first snowfall&#8211;<BR>&#8220;A B C D E F&#8230;&#8221;<BR>she practices<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
