Thus, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/thewantontree.blogspot.com\/\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;font-size: x-small\">The Wanton Tree<\/span><\/em><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;font-size: x-small\"> was born, filled with verse (and verbosity). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;font-size: x-small\">Although BW has led with some of his naughtier stuff (to attract some Google querists perhaps), <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;font-size: x-small\">there&#8217;s lots to like that is family-safe.  Here are two good examples:<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">overpass:<br \/>\nthe windshield wipers<br \/>\nsqueak dry<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">preschool:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">the lower panes<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">free of frost<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\"> <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;font-size: x-small\">Bret explains in his first post how he got the haiku bug:  &#8220;I am\/was an avid guitarist. Following <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;font-size: x-small\">my obsessive compulsive muse and playing as fast and furious as posible for many hours a day <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;font-size: x-small\">resulted in tendonitis and a drastically reduced regimen. What to do with my overindulgent nature? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;font-size: x-small\">I remembered that I had written haiku 12 years earlier and took it up again with a vengeance. Since <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;font-size: x-small\">then, I&#8217;ve had some publishing success and found I really enjoy writing and reading these tiny poems.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;font-size: x-small\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/scarpimp.gif\" alt=\"scarpimp\" \/> Bret Wooldridge&#8217;s Profile sent me off on a pleasant tangent.  He lists &#8220;<strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/search-handle-form\/104-1569557-1267912\">The Scarlet Pimpernel<\/a><\/em><\/strong>&#8221; as one <span style=\"color: black\">of his favorite movies.  But, he doesn&#8217;t tell us if it&#8217;s the <\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/6305066825\/qid=1105640085\/sr=1-2\/ref=sr_1_2\/104-1569557-1267912?v=glance&amp;s=dvd\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">Leslie Howard<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">\/Merle Oberon version (1935), the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/0784001847\/qid=1105640085\/sr=1-4\/ref=sr_1_4\/104-1569557-1267912?v=glance&amp;s=dvd\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">Anthony Andrews<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">\/Jane Seymour version (1982), or the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/detail\/-\/B0000687BO\/qid=1105640085\/sr=1-10\/ref=sr_1_10\/104-1569557-1267912?v=glance&amp;s=dvd\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">Richard E. Grant<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">\/Elizabeth McGovern version (A&amp;E,<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\"> 1999).  Wal-Mart has the 1935 classic for $1, with a great <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/tg\/stores\/detail\/-\/dvd\/B0002O0XTM\/pictures\/14\/104-1569557-1267912#more-pictures\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">cover<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">. (Or, maybe Bret caught the Broadway <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicals101.com\/pimperne.htm\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">musical version<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">with Douglas Sills &amp; Christine Andreas.)<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">Now, it ain&#8217;t haiku, but I&#8217;ve always liked <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cpa.org.au\/garchive\/952tv.htm\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">these lines<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,Times,Serif;color: black;font-size: x-small\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve written a poem.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;Who sir? I&#8217;d choose to turn off the 1999 tv-flick.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;font-size: x-small\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/ethicalesq\/tinycheck.gif\" alt=\"tiny check\" \/> This morning, there was a happy ending to my crashed-computer story.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;font-size: x-small\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;font-size: x-small\">I&#8217;m using it right now, with no data lost.  Having my RAM tripled makes my achy body<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;font-size: x-small\">feel almost turbocharged. As a man who has always looked <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">for an <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;font-size: x-small\">intellectual equal with high (and earned) self-esteem, I find this all a little silly.   The<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;font-size: x-small\">complaining women are looking in the wrong places (<em>e.g<\/em>., at men who need status and<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;font-size: x-small\">wealth to feel good about themselves).
