Sometimes, <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/EM><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><EM><FONT face=\"Arial\">it&#8217;s of the <\/FONT><\/EM><FONT face=\"Arial\"><EM>&#8220;How can you say X when yesterday you say Y?&#8221; <\/EM><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Arial\"><EM>variety, to which my <\/EM><\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\"><EM>response is &#8220;careful with that &#8216;you.'&#8221; <\/EM><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><EM><FONT size=\"2\"><\/FONT><\/EM>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><EM><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Arial\">More broadly, let this be a reminder <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\">to new readers: <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/EM><\/DIV><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>It&#8217;s not just Volokh &#8212; it&#8217;s a Conspiracy.<\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV><\/BLOCKQUOTE><\/BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">Geez, on first reading, I almost thought this was an issue-spotting lesson<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Arial\">from&nbsp;Prof. V.&nbsp;&nbsp; Since you&#8217;re <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\">an antitrust expert, and&nbsp;hang out online with <\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Arial\">criminal <\/FONT><\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">law buffs like <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/federalism.typepad.com\/\"><FONT face=\"Arial\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"2\">Fed84<\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">, I&#8217;m sure you saw the problem right off:&nbsp; <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<BLOCKQUOTE><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Arial\"><FONT size=\"2\"><EM>By definition<\/EM>, every member of a <\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Conspiracy\"><FONT size=\"2\">conspiracy<\/FONT><\/A><FONT size=\"2\"> is liable for<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">the actions of every other member of the conspiracy &#8212; they<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">each become partners or <EM>agents of eachother<\/EM>. He might be young, but he&#8217;s a big boy with a&nbsp;<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">healthy ego. &nbsp;I&#8217;m sure he&#8217;d prefer to deal with the issue, and maybe bury it,&nbsp;rather <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Arial\">than <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\">have some smart-<\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\">aleck weblog editor (especially a professor) come along&nbsp;<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Arial\">and <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\">try to put egg on his <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\">face, for the sake of a few extra page hits.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">I agree that you should bring Prof. V. suggestions for a new weblog name, and <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Arial\">that keeping the <EM>VC<\/EM> acronym is important.&nbsp;&nbsp; Looking at the weblog&#8217;s lineup,<\/FONT>&nbsp;<FONT face=\"Arial\"> I was&nbsp;<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Arial\"><FONT size=\"2\">going to try to slip &#8220;<\/FONT><A href=\"http:\/\/www.onelook.com\/?w=confederacy&amp;ls=a\"><FONT color=\"#000000\" size=\"2\">confederacy<\/FONT><\/A><FONT size=\"2\">&#8221; by you, but you&#8217;re too sharp.&nbsp; &#8220;Independent<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">Contractors&#8221; is the right notion, but <EM><A href=\"http:\/\/www.acronymfinder.com\/af-query.asp?acronym=VIC&amp;String=exact&amp;page=2\"><FONT color=\"#000000\">VIC<\/FONT><\/A><\/EM> won&#8217;t do, despite the nifty counterpart<\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Arial\">of Virtual Information Center.&nbsp; just a bunch of folk under the same webroof, <\/FONT><\/DIV><br \/>\n<DIV dir=\"ltr\"><FONT size=\"2\"><FONT face=\"Arial\">but <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\">with no particular connotation of concerted action.&nbsp;
