陳寅恪（1890年—1969年）是中國現代歷史學家，語言大師，亦為民初時期清華大學國學院四大導師之一（其餘三人為梁啟超、王國維、趙元任）。其史學脫胎於乾嘉考據學，著有《柳如是別傳》、《隋唐制度淵源略論稿》、《唐代政治史述論稿》。他歷經民國時期和文革風暴，生前說過這樣一句名言：「我们这块土地、这些人，终其一生，大多所行，不过苟且二字。所谓风光，不过苟且有术，行路坎坷，不过苟且无门，基本不过如此而已。」
