{"id":178,"date":"2006-02-09T17:55:13","date_gmt":"2006-02-09T21:55:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ecclog\/2006\/02\/09\/coming-clean\/"},"modified":"2006-02-09T17:55:13","modified_gmt":"2006-02-09T21:55:13","slug":"coming-clean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/ecclog\/2006\/02\/09\/coming-clean\/","title":{"rendered":"Coming Clean"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name='a1142'><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To follow up <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/ecclog\/2006\/01\/30#a1130\">on this post<\/a>, our very own <a href=\"http:\/\/feinstein.senate.gov\/\">Di Fi<\/a> acknowledged <a href=\"http:\/\/sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/c\/a\/2006\/02\/09\/MNGSCH5M1V4.DTLhttp:\/\/sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/c\/a\/2006\/02\/09\/MNGSCH5M1V4.DTLhttp:\/\/sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/c\/a\/2006\/02\/09\/MNGSCH5M1V4.DTL\">that a former staffer altered<\/a> her wikipedia profile and her husband&#8217;s profile.&nbsp; This admission<br \/>\ncame out after wikipedia conducted an investigation of the<br \/>\nCongressional staffers who made edits to the site, and released <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikinews.org\/wiki\/Wikinews_investigates_Wikipedia_usage_by_U.S._Senate_staff_members\">the results<\/a>.&nbsp;<br \/>\nFrom the report, I am most amused that Senator Rick Santorum&#8217;s staffers<br \/>\nerased references to the Dan Savage definition of his last name,<br \/>\nand by WP&#8217;s simple deductive technique for IP address mapping:<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left: 40px;\">The U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms owns the IP block 156.33.0.0 to<br \/>\n156.33.255.255. Requests to learn the mapping of these thousands of IPs<br \/>\nwere not responded to at press time. However, the lower 100 blocks of<br \/>\naddresses appear to be mapped to the 100 Senators based on their<br \/>\nstate&#8217;s alphabetical listing.
