At the height of the Dot Com Boom, in the late 90s, my hometown, San Francisco, upset the New York – LA dynamic. As the hype in SV grew, Vanity Fair announced, under the category of “New York Pass Times,” that San Francisco bashing had replaced LA bashing.
Now that Bay Area fortunes have readjusted, however, LA has reasserted its throne, and as this Times article attests, the NY/LA battle has returned in full force.
