Before SFPL, Brian lived in Seattle where worked within the City Libraries and at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Brian is very active in work related to public technology access and bridging the digital divide.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"clear: both; padding-top: 20px;\">Rachael Bower<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1718\" style=\"padding: 3px; border: 1px solid #CCC;\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dplaalpha\/files\/2011\/09\/BowerRachel.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><strong>Director, Internet Scout<\/strong><br \/>\nRachael Estes Bower is Director of <a href=\"http:\/\/scout.wisc.edu\/\">Internet Scout<\/a>, a research center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Scout focuses on connecting educators with high-quality online information for use in classrooms and libraries, and creating tools, software and publications that support those connections. As a young woman Ms. Bower worked in both the film industry and the dot com world before settling happily into academia. She received her undergraduate degree in art and communications from Ohio University.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"clear: both; padding-top: 20px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dancohen.org\/\">Dan Cohen<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-621\" style=\"padding: 3px; border: 1px solid #cccccc;\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dplaalpha\/files\/2011\/09\/CohenDan.jpg\" alt=\"Dan Cohen\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><strong>Associate Professor of History and Director of the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media, George Mason University<\/strong><br \/>\nDaniel J. Cohen is an Associate Professor in the Department of History and Art History at George Mason University and the Director of the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media, which produces digital resources and platforms for students, teachers, and scholars.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"clear: both; padding-top: 20px;\">Michael Colford<\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dplaalpha\/files\/2011\/09\/IMG_4994.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-649\" style=\"padding: 3px; border: 1px solid #cccccc;\" title=\"MichaelColford\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dplaalpha\/files\/2011\/09\/IMG_4994-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"144\" height=\"121\" \/><\/a>Director of Library Services, Boston Public Library<\/strong><br \/>\nMichael is the Director of Library Services at the Boston Public Library (BPL).\u00a0 If it\u2019s library-related, it\u2019s part of Michael\u2019s division.\u00a0 He oversees the Central Library and all the Branches, Collections Strategy, Technical &amp; Digital Services, Communications, Reference &amp; Instruction, Exhibitions &amp; Programming, Literacy Services, and Youth Services.\u00a0 Michael is very interested in the evolution of libraries and the publishing industry, particularly in the rise of the e-book and how libraries will become a vital part of the publishing ecosystem.\u00a0 That said, while he loves technology and reading, he has yet to complete an entire e-book, and still brings a physical book wherever he goes.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"clear: both; padding-top: 20px;\">Chris Freeland<\/h3>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-621\" style=\"padding: 3px; border: 1px solid #cccccc;\" title=\"Freeland_avatar\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dplaalpha\/files\/2011\/09\/Freeland_avatar1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/>Biodiversity Heritage Library<br \/>\n<\/strong>Chris Freeland is the Director of the Center for Biodiversity Informatics at the\u00a0Missouri\u00a0Botanical Garden\u00a0and the Technical Director of the Biodiversity Heritage Library. Mr. Freeland has an M.S. in Biological Sciences from\u00a0Eastern\u00a0Illinois\u00a0University and has worked as a technologist in scientific organizations and digital libraries for more than 10 years. He has been a project manager for several large biodiversity informatics and digitization projects, including the development of the Tropicos botanical information system, online at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tropicos.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.tropicos.org<\/a>, and the BHL, online at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biodiversitylibrary.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.biodiversitylibrary.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Toby Greenwalt<\/h3>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-623\" style=\"padding: 3px; border: 1px solid #cccccc;\" title=\"TobyGreenwalt\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dplaalpha\/files\/2011\/09\/tgreenwalt-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/>Virtual Services Coordinator, Skokie Public Library (IL)<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><br \/>\nToby Greenwalt is Virtual Services Coordinator at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skokielibrary.info\/\" target=\"_blank\">Skokie (IL) Public Library<\/a>, where he is charged with improving the public side of the organization&#8217;s web interface. Working with issues of content, design, and policy, he works to bring the human factor to community technology. He writes &#8220;The Wired Library&#8221; column for <a href=\"http:\/\/publiclibrariesonline.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Public Libraries <\/a>magazine, as well as occasional posts on his blog <a href=\"http:\/\/theanalogdivide.com\" target=\"_blank\">theanalogdivide.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"clear: both; padding-top: 20px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/its.law.nyu.edu\/facultyprofiles\/profile.cfm?personID=30084\">Ira Rubinstein<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-623\" style=\"padding: 3px; border: 1px solid #cccccc;\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dplaalpha\/files\/2011\/09\/RubinsteinIra.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><strong>Senior Fellow, NYU School of Law<\/strong><br \/>\nIra Rubinstein is a Senior Fellow at the Information Law Institute, NYU School of Law. He lectures and publishes widely on these issues and has testified before Congress on numerous occasions. Previously he was the Digital Initiatives Librarian at the DC Public Library and the library director of a small public library outside of Portland, Oregon.
