Miami police announced Monday they will
\n stage random shows of force at hotels, banks and other public places
\n to keep terrorists guessing and remind people to be vigilant.<\/p>\n
Deputy Police Chief Frank Fernandez said officers might, for example, surround
\n a bank building, check the IDs of everyone going in and out and hand out
\n leaflets about terror threats.<\/p>\n
"This is an in-your-face type of strategy. It’s letting the terrorists
\n know we are out there," Fernandez said.<\/p>\n
The operations will keep terrorists off guard, Fernandez said. He said
\n al-Qaida and other terrorist groups plot attacks by putting places under
\n surveillance and watching for flaws and patterns in security.<\/p>\n
Both uniformed and plainclothes police will ride buses and trains, while
\n others will conduct longer-term surveillance operations.<\/p>\n
"People are definitely going to notice it," Fernandez said. "We
\n want that shock. We want that awe. But at the same time, we don’t want
\n people to feel their rights are being threatened. We need them to be our
\n eyes and ears."<\/p>\n

\n other in
\n the streets. Randomly detaining citizens and non-citizens alike,
\n demanding ID and shutting down private businesses should clean up the
\n street scene
\n and
\n put the
\n fear of God into those illegal aliens, even if it only assures the terrorists
\n that we are completely clueless as to where the real danger lies. Plus,
\n a valuable chance to practice those police state tactics that may prove
\n indispensable in some “hypothetical” future crisis.<\/em><\/p>\n
