No Food or Water"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name='a7426'><\/a><\/p>\n<table width=\"537\" border=\"0\">\n<tr>\n<td height=\"286\">\n<p align=\"justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cyber.law.harvard.edu\/blogs\/static\/dowbrigade\/wbuddha.jpg\" width=\"199\" height=\"199\" align=\"left\">Thousands of pilgrims are pouring into<br \/>\n        the dense jungle of southern Nepal to worship a 15-year-old boy who has<br \/>\n        been hailed as a new Buddha.<\/p>\n<p>      Devotees claim that Ram Bomjon, who is silently meditating beneath a tree,<br \/>\n      has not eaten or drunk anything since he sat down at his chosen spot six<br \/>\n      months ago.<\/p>\n<p>      Ram Bomjon maintains his vigil in the shade of his pipal tree<\/p>\n<p>      Witnesses say they have seen light emanating from the teenager&#8217;s forehead.<\/p>\n<p>      &quot;It looks a bit like when you shine a torch through your hand,&quot; said<br \/>\n      Tek Bahadur Lama, a member of the committee responsible for dealing with<br \/>\n      the growing number of visitors from India and elsewhere in Nepal.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The popularity of the phenomenon is partly because it<br \/>\n        resembles an episode in the life of the historical Buddha, who was born<br \/>\n        160 miles away around 543 BC. The Buddha achieved enlightenment when<br \/>\n        he meditated beneath a sacred pipal tree for 49 days.<\/p>\n<p>        Ram Bomjon is also sitting beneath a pipal tree, in the same posture<br \/>\n      as the Buddha is depicted, but his vigil has already taken longer.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><em>Well, the world is a lot more fucked up now than<br \/>\n          it was in 543 B.C.
