BERLIN (Reuters) – Sultry actress Marlene Dietrich, one
\n of the 20th century’s most iconic figures, hated sex and had a schizophrenic
\n personality, according to her daughter Maria Riva.<\/p>\n

In an interview with German magazine Bunte to be published Thursday, Riva
\n said Dietrich’s aversion to sex did not deter countless men from pursuing
\n her.<\/p>\n

"All of her lovers wanted to marry her anyway," the magazine quoted
\n the 81-year-old Riva as saying.<\/p>\n

Riva, who has written a memoir entitled "My Mother Marlene," said
\n that Dietrich’s hatred of sex and sometimes distant personality often
\n made her feel sorry for the men who fell in love with her glamorous mother.<\/p>\n

"Marlene Dietrich the film star was always just the person in the
\n mirror, but never her real self," said Riva. "She was a totally
\n normal schizophrenic."<\/p>\n

During the ten years we were married to her, Maria never once mentioned
\n that she was Marlene Dietrich’s daughter. Obviously, totally normal schizophrenia
\n runs in the family…<\/em><\/p>\n
