{"id":554,"date":"2005-09-29T21:36:05","date_gmt":"2005-09-30T01:36:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.law.harvard.edu\/dbnews\/2005\/09\/29\/suck-a-fishermans-friend-for-luck\/"},"modified":"2005-09-29T21:36:05","modified_gmt":"2005-09-30T01:36:05","slug":"suck-a-fishermans-friend-for-luck","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.blogs.harvard.edu\/dowbrigade\/2005\/09\/29\/suck-a-fishermans-friend-for-luck\/","title":{"rendered":"Suck a Fisherman&#8217;s Friend for Luck"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a name='a7133'><\/a><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"+1\">Sucking a Fishermen&#8217;s Friend could get you into trouble<\/font><\/p>\n<p>Police in Germany are warning motorists that sucking a Fishermen&#8217;s Friend could get them into trouble.<\/p>\n<p>It comes after a 24-year-old driver was found to be over the legal drink-drive limit during a routine control in Munich.<\/p>\n<p>He was taken to the police station where blood tests found he had no alcohol in his system.<\/p>\n<p>The man was released after officers found the strongest thing he had taken was a Fisherman&#8217;s Friend.<\/p>\n<p>Forensic doctor Thomas Gilg said the essential oils contained in the throat sweets reacted in the same way as alcohol on hand-held breathalysers.<\/p>\n<p>He said in tests they found just three of the mentholated sweets could cause a motorist to test three times over the legal limit.<\/p>\n<p><i>Sounds to us like they could get you OUT of trouble as well.
