\n and hip. As we tell our students, slang is the testing laboratory of
\n the languague, where new words and expressions are run through their
\n paces and allowed to mix and match with the cannonized language. If
\n the new items become popular and widespread, if htey expand our pallet
\n of lexical shades and tones, if they make the cut, they are admitted
\n to the English club, entered in the dictionary, and become part of the
\n living language. On the other hand, the far majority of slang never
\n make it out of the lab, and are mercifully euthanized at the end of
\n the experiment.<\/p>\n
\n every day, the Dowbrigade is familiar with all of the terms and phrases
\n in today’s comic. In fact, we plan to use it with our next class,
\n probably sometime in the fall.<\/p>\n
\n Asians yesterday, which is all we can say about that, as we have had
\n to take an
\n oath to never blog about our job, our students, our colleagues or especially
\n our employer. However, we hope it is safe to say that after 14 straight
\n weeks of teaching in intensive language programs, we need some down
\n time, and
\n should
\n get some
\n during the next two weeks. <\/p>\n
