\n scientists have finally lifted the veil of mystery surrounding famed
\n pharaoh Tutankhamun’s death, saying he died of a swift attack of gangrene
\n after breaking his leg.<\/p>\n
"After consultations with Italian and Swiss experts, Egyptian scientists
\n… have found that a fracture in the boy king’s left leg a day before his death
\nwas infected with gangrene and led to his passing," Egypt’s Supreme Council
\nof Antiquities said Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The team, aided by French and US scientists, also revealed Tutankhamun’s
\n features.
\n"A silicone mold bearing the features of the boy king and whose examination
\nalso confirms the size and shape of his skull," was obtained, the statement
\nsaid, quoting Egypt’s chief archeologist Zahi Hawas.<\/p>\n
The mold was produced by placing silicone on a plastic replica of Tutankhamun’s
\nskull which was constructed from a previously available computerized X-ray of
\nthe 3,300-year-old mummy.<\/p>\n
